Hollywood Icon Dennis Hopper Dead at 74

May 29, 2010 – Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic ”Easy Rider,” died on Saturday from complications of prostate cancer.

In 1969 Hopper and Jack Nicholson persuaded supermarket heir Huntington Hartford to give them $500,000 to finance their breakthrough movie Easy Rider, in which Hopper directed as well as starred, alongside Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson.
