Sons of Anarchy Finds the Demographic Holy Grail & More

Back in 2008 the FX Networks series “Sons of Anarchy” kicked off. The show depicts a Californian outlaw biker gang and features Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Ron Perlman, and a huge inventory of black big twin Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The reason it is on the air is because the FX network has set up shop to deliver programming aimed at young men whom marketers pay a premium to reach. The Sons are a top-rated drama that reaches mostly male viewers with an average age of 38—that is a sweet spot for advertisers.

The popular television program had achieved 4.3 million people watching the program and a 94% increase among adults in the 18 to 49 age group from Season 1 to Season 2. (Stanhope, 2009).

SmartCup, Inc. engaged Biker Pros to develop an online and print ad campaign for their participation in the Giveaway Chopper Sweepstakes. The campaign is designed to leverage program sponsors with enthusiasts by promoting their participation in Cycle Source Magazine and Bikernet.com. Biker Pros is utilizing print, RSS feeds, social media, blogs and newsletters for the program.
