The 2013 J&P Chicago Ultimate Builder Kicked Bagger A$$phalt

The 2013 Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show kicked off in Chicago, IL on February 8, 2013 with builders coming in from as far as Dallas to compete for over $7,750 in cash and prizes. A new sponsor was added to the mix, HelmetLok provides all placing entries with a way to secure their helmets.

Chicago has always given love to Baggers and this edition was no exception with 7 big-tire Baggers competing in FreeStyle. These bikes were big and brash and had the “look” that you come to expect in these machines.

Enthusiasts were able to get their quota of eye candy as Chicago delivered the most diverse selection of sleds with Baggers, trikes, sidecars, café racers, customs, pro street bikes and restored vintage iron all gracing the red carpet.

J&P Ultimate Builder Class: Freestyle

Kyle Shorey of Shadetree Fabrications took the win in the FreeStyle class at the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in Chicago with Speedmetal. The bike began life as a customer’s Saxon Crown chopper. The wheels, engine, brakes and tranny were salvaged from the donor bike. A key feature of the bike is the prototype springer, which will be available to the public shortly. This is the 3rd appearance and 3rd win with a total of $7,500 in award money going to Kyle. His bike was consistently mobbed throught the show.

J&P Ultimate Builder Class: MOD Harley

Modified Harley was won by Don Robb of AR Baggers with his 2002 Harley-Davidson Road Glide that features all the goodies including a Big Bore Kit, full air ride, pm wheels, 8 speaker system, touch screen and (2) 1200 watt amps.

J&P Ultimate Builder Class: Performance Custom

Josh from JDA Customs brought out his 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 and took the win in the Performance Custom class. It boasts a 330 10” over extended swing arm, molded tank with all custom parts built in-house by JDA Customs.

J&P Ultimate Builder Class: Retro MOD

Tony Prust of Analog Motorcycles won the Retro MOD with his ’72 Bonneville called El Matador. The ’68 frame has been modified with a bolt-on hardtail with the front forks lowered 2”. The brass headlight was fabricated out of a vintage cigar tin and the taillight from a vintage brass bowl. Engine was rebuilt and sports an open primary, BNR Belt Drive and Joe Hunt Magneto.

Kamil Podziomski stopped GIO from Blacksmith Motoring from his unblemished record of winning every event attended with his 2005 Buell XB12R custom bike. The Buell features a custom fairing, carbon fiber exhaust, EBR race ECU, custom taillight, carbon fiber rear hugger fender, heat wrapped headers and a custom rear fender.

Cycle Source Magazine Provides Editor’s Choice Award at NY Round of J&P Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show. Biker Pros, the producer of the J&P Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show, announced today that Chris Callen, Publisher of Cycle Source Magazine, is co-promoting the New York round of the custom motorcycle series on January 18-20, 2013.

The magazine will provide an Editor’s Choice Award and feature that custom bike in an upcoming issue of the magazine. The magazine also influenced Indian Larry Motorcycles to participate in the New York round of the series and provide three Kustom Kulture bikes for the showcase on January 18-20.

“Chris is holding the flag high for American manufacturing, innovation and next generation builders and we are excited to be working with him on our largest event on the East Coast,” explained Bob Kay, Biker Pros Partner. “It’s his dedication and hard work that has put Cycle Source Magazine on the national stage and we expect our association will elevate the Ultimate Builder brand.”

The J&P Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show pulls world class builders from across the United States into a series that provides over $91,000 of total prize money and $7,000 at each round. Professional and amateur custom builders of choppers, cruisers, bobbers, baggers, race bikes and sport bikes are invited to enter their bikes into the competition and judge each other’s work.

There are 13 individual rounds of the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show nationwide with the Indy round coming February 15-17. The 2012-2013 tour cities represent the most motorcycle-dense populations in the United States, reaching 75% of the nation’s motorcycle enthusiasts. Attendees will see the latest trends in custom motorcycles and meet their local two-wheeled hero’s at the show.

Ultimate Builder Completes the California Swing

December 7-9th is the perfect storm for the SOCAL custom bike enthusiast as the Ultimate Builder, David Mann and Mooneyes all fire up on the same weekend. The J&P Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show rolled into Long Beach, CA on December 7th with 43 outstanding custom sleds. Guys from LA, San Diego, NORCAL and Vegas came to compete for bragging rights and a piece of the $7,000 in prize money and $500+ in prizes.

Ultimate Builder: FreeStyle Class

Shaun Ruddy of Chop Deluxe wheeled Retro Racer into the 2012 SOCAL Ultimate Builder , everyone new that his sled was in contention for the win. And Shaun pulled it off by the slimmest of margins against 2nd place finisher Pala Duro. Shaun’s bike features hand machined brass pieces throughout, 127” Ultima EL Bruto, Panhead front rocker boxes and custom front end.

The California King of Mod Harley – Bruce Boldon wins SOCAL and NORCAL editions of Ultimate Builder in the MOD Harley class with Wicked Beauty, making him the MOD Harley King. His bike is a 2003 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Boldon went for the big bore kit, Screamin’ Eagle cams and diamond cut heads. If the bike isn’t chromed then its powder coated. Ridewright wheels are engraved and diamond cut. The frame is chromed and engraved.

The purpose-built race bikes got traction at the Ultimate Builder with Paul Morris and his racer, Street Pro, taking the win by a wheel against Ray Wheeler and his turbocharged Bonneville racer. Mooris’ bike sports a Gangster frame, full MSD ignition, carbon fiber body work and rear wheel. Chassis is custom built with a stretched swingarm and slammed suspension.

Ultimate Builder produced by Biker Pros

Paul Ponkow of Bones Legacy built this wild child called Satyricon. The bike has a 53deg rake, 8” stretch and a 30” over rigid front end. Special features include a hand-ade oil tank, sissy bar, seat, exhaust, handlebars, foot controls and brake linkage. It’s a beautiful 1964 Triumph TR-6 with a 650cc mil that was balanced and blue printed with polished rods, coated valves and an SRM blow off valve.

ADVANSTAR LAUNCHES NEW PROGRESSIVE INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE SHOW IN INDIANAPOLIS ALONGSIDE DEALER EXPO

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (July 10, 2012) – Today, Advanstar Communications Inc. announced that two of the industry’s leading powersports events, the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows and Dealer Expo, will combine in 2013 to create the ultimate two-wheeled destination weekend in Indianapolis, the motorsports capital of the U.S. and a city that is conveniently located within a day’s drive for more than half of the U.S. population. A new stop for the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows, the largest and longest-running consumer powersports show series in the world, will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 15-17, 2013, at the Lucas Oil Stadium, co-located with Dealer Expo, the world’s largest powersports trade show held at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Together, the two events will take over downtown Indianapolis over President’s Day weekend.

Part 2: Chopper Voodoo – A Roller

Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show

The Brass Balls’ Chopper will debut at the Dallas round of the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show . The chopper is making progress, It’s now a roller.

After the frame was fabricated it went off to be nickel plated. Thie custom 69 Chopper-style frame is 36 degrees, 3″ up, 1″ out and 2″ back. At the frame head, the Darwin Motorcycles logo is welded in.

Ness is a legend and has been building custom motorcycles for more than four decades. Arlen’s name is synonymous with “chopper” and he, as well as his family, has been a key player in the chopper scene since the 70’s. Biker Pros is pleased to have Arlen Ness at the Ultimate Builder and look forward to working with the Ness family.

The team at Biker Pros are on the phones and securing entries in the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in San Mateo, Dallas, Long Beach and Seattle. Kirk Taylor and Jim from AFT Customs will be showing bikes in San Mateo this weekend. Satya Krause may join in as well.

Cole Foster wanted to come, but his bikes are in Japan, Europe and at Jeff Decker’s place. Foster had just returned from Austin working with Jesse James on the buildoff with the Teutuls. He said the best part was shooting a machine gun and using Paul Jr’s face as the target.
